Tutorial

Basic tutorial time!

WASD keys - Movement
Enter - Select
Backspace - Cancel selection/Exit menu
I - Character information

To start, select a level. The only level you will have at the start is the one your cursor is automatically over, but you can tell a level is unlocked because the path leading up to it is red, not white.

To move a character, place your cursor over any friendly character (outlined in red) and press the select key. You should see an area indicated by red tiles, and a blue path from the character to your cursor. This is your character's movement range. Then, you can either cancel and select another character using the cancel key, or select a red tile to move your character there. If a grey area is shown instead of a red area, the character either has no more moves this turn, or is an enemy character.

If you end your movement within attack range of an enemy, you will enter attack mode. All tiles that are within your character's attack range are highlighted in blue. Next, select an enemy in range to attack them, dealing damage and (sometimes) having additional effects.

Once you have no more characters that can move, your turn will end. Turns are indicated in the bottom left corner of the game, if the flag is red, it is your turn, if it is white, it's the enemy turn. Once all enemies have moved it is your turn again.

You will lose if there are no friendly characters left at the end of any turn, and win if there are no enemies.

If your turn isn't ending, check to make sure none of your characters have leftover moves, as they may have more than one.

If you wish for more detailed information about a character, select them and press I to bring up the character information screen. It can be closed with cancel or the I key. The top right corner of the menu shows an image of the selected character, their name, their creature type and some fun flavour text. The middle to bottom right has all the basic information about the character.

The left side of the menu has a list of the character's attributes. These are special effects, that can range anywhere from always hitting attacks, to doing extra damage to certain creature types, to taking damage at the start of turns.

If there is anything else that you wish to know, please tell me and I can explain. Thanks for playing!
